Top 5 Things to Learn from Maritz Travel’s 2018 Collaborative

Last month, our Maritz team members and closest supplier partners traveled to Austin, Texas and gathered at the Fairmont Austin for the 2018 Maritz Travel Collaborative. Throughout the three-day gathering, from August 22-24, our 347 Maritz team members and 350 suppliers, brainstormed, learned together, networked and some earned professional certifications. With over 600 attendees, including 172 first-time guests, there were 28 countries represented during this engaging and informative event. Discover more cool stats below:

Check out these top five highlights of Maritz Travel’s 2018 Collaborative:

1. “We Rocked Collab with Maritz Pride”
We kicked off the 2018 Collaborative by inviting our team members, suppliers and partners to create an original song together. We had a blast as Song Division helped us find our inner songwriters by creating a fun atmosphere of team building. With over 500 newly minted lyricists in one room, it was a great start to Collaborative that inspired positive energy throughout the days ahead.

2. Maritz Travel’s Facial Recognition is Getting Real
At Maritz Travel, we recognize that facial recognition technology is growing in popularity across many industries. During this year’s Collaborative, we introduced our facial recognition system to our colleagues and supplier partners as they entered their Sponsor Showcase appointments. This new and exciting technology is capable of identifying and verifying a person from a digital image captured at the moment of check-in before a meeting session.

3. As Always – We Love Our Partners
From sorbet servings to lemonade stands, to a banana bar, we really enjoyed our DMC partners and all our supplier partners who attended this year’s Collaborative. Each DMC at Collaborative helped create a narrative that we wanted our team members, suppliers, and partners to take away from Collaborative – and share with others!

4. Fairmont Austin is an Excellent Place to Host a Meeting or Event
The newly opened 37-story luxury hotel features beautiful guest rooms and suites that overlook Lady Bird Lake and offer breathtaking views of the Austin skyline. We enjoyed meeting with suppliers in the Fairmont Austin’s state-of-the-art meeting facilities that are perfect for special events. The location is also conveniently close to the city’s music scene and offers many things to do for all guests. Most importantly, the staff is dedicated to their guests, and they made it a great experience for our team members during Collaborative.

Having this year’s Collaborative in a great city at a stunning hotel definitely enhanced the exciting times we shared singing, dancing, talking and tasting delicious foods. The event was also a success because we learned more about People Science, got to know our colleagues and clients a little better, and discovered up–and-coming industry trends. Most of all, we had fun! Thank you to all of our partners, suppliers, team members and friends who made 2018 Collaborative a week we’ll never forget!
